What Is Endovenous Thermal Ablation?

This newer surgical technique, also called laser therapy, is minimally invasive. During the procedure, doctors make a small incision (2-3mm) and insert a catheter to apply heat to the vein wall, causing it to close. Your body will naturally re-route blood through other healthy veins.

Patients typically experience instant relief of their symptoms and return to their normal activities the same day. Endovenous thermal ablation is covered by most major medical insurance companies, including Medicare.
